Shaun T, who is well known for his fitness-related expertise, has revealed what it truly means to be fit in 2019.

If you don’t already know, then here is a little background. Shaun is 40 years old and is father of two children. He has created a fitness program called Insanity, a workout regimen which has gained huge appreciation throughout the fitness community.

His philosophy about becoming fit has some useful tips which we believe you can implement to stay healthy and achieve your fitness goals this year, and we are sharing the same with you here.

Make Realistic Fitness Goals

Shaun is of the opinion that making resolutions for fitness is a healthy idea. However, you need to be realistic while making such resolutions.

For example, if you want to remain or become fit in 2019, then you should not expect it to happen in a short span of time like a month or two. Fitness is a way of life, something that you need to maintain throughout your life.

Aim To Achieve Your Fitness Goals In A Gradual Manner

According to Shaun, fitness results come at a gradual pace. When people follow crash diets or indulge in extreme workouts, they only end up feeling more exhausted than before. It is best to not follow any routine that damages your health, obviously. Your body is good at adapting to change, but that does not mean you expect it to change overnight.

Whichever fitness program you plan on following, it is best to adopt it slowly. If you are a beginner and have chosen a beginner-level fitness program, then follow each step without skipping any which you feel is too easy.

You must understand that every person has a different body dynamic, and hence every fitness program will not be appropriate for you.

Some people have a tendency to lose fat quickly by simply altering their diet while others can build muscle much quicker than most. Understand how your body works, adopt a fitness program accordingly, and then adopt it at a gradual pace.

Many people follow someone else’s fitness program because it worked for them, which can be a big mistake. Fitness does not have any defined formula, and a program that worked for someone else might have the opposite effect on your body.

Prepare Your Mind Before Following Routines

Fitness regimes should be followed considering three important factors: body, diet, and mind. The mind is a very important component here. Your mind should be prepared to follow a new diet and workout routine, since the primary reason why we embark on a fitness journey is because our mind tells us to do so.

Your body does not work without receiving a specific message from your mind to do something. Hence, it is important that you first convince yourself mentally that you are fully committed to a new workout routine, and then follow that routine regularly. Once your mind is convinced, your body will automatically respond.

Your mind should be prepared to follow a new diet and workout routine, since the primary reason why we embark on a fitness journey is because our mind tells us to do so.

Push Yourself

Shaun believes that, in order to stick to any workout routine, you need to push yourself towards it. Your motivation will not remain constant throughout the year that is for sure. This is the reason why many people who start workout routines at the start of the year mostly concede to stopping in about 2 to 3 months.

In order to remain motivated, sign off a non-negotiable contract in your mind that keeps you moving forward. Focus on results rather than on the process. If you are looking forward to enhancing your self-confidence and independence by keeping yourself fit, then keep your focus on these aspects.

On a final note, maintaining the perfect body throughout your life is not possible by following one kind of a workout routine because our body keeps changing overtime. However, if you keep updating your fitness program considering the changing requirements of your body, then you will be successful in keeping yourself fit throughout your life.
