It is not a secret that mental health issues exempt no one – even the rich, the popular, and the successful are not at all immune from the problems that are far from imaginary. Age, gender, and religion are not factors as well. In short, people from all walks of life are vulnerable to suffering from these issues. Thankfully, a lot of celebrities have come out with their stories, an effort to remove the stigma surrounding the issue.

Suffering from Anxiety

Singer Shawn Mendes is just one of the many prominent personalities who has never been shy about his struggles as he battles mental health problems.

He opened up in March about suffering from anxiety, which was the reason behind the song “In My Blood.” He said that the lead single for his self-titled album was his truth. Later on, he admitted going to therapy not just for himself but the people surrounding him as well.

Shawn Mendes admits he still suffers anxiety nowadays

The singer admitted he initially thought that keeping himself isolated from other people would help him combat the condition, but then Shawn learned that the key to solving his problem was to open up about his struggles.

He credited talking to people as a way to help you understand more and take control of your emotions. The award-winning crooner also underlined how anxiety can attack you any time of the day for an unknown duration and his Grammy-nominated tune actually tells you that you can come out stronger.

Therapy

Recently, though Shawn revealed he still is facing anxiety, he still copes with it by talking about it more often.

He cited opening up about his struggles as one of the most important things he had done and which had greatly helped him sail through the storm. Plus, the lad just realizes that he is not alone in this fight as there are a lot of people undergoing the same feeling every day.

Shawn Mendes gained prominence because of his Vine creations

The Canadian singer first rose to fame through the now-defunct Vine, where he would upload 6-second clips. But what really led people to notice him, perhaps, was his cover of Justin Bieber’s “As Long as You Love Me,” which obviously showed his potential as an artist.

Thanks to a stronghold following on the app and undeniable talent, record labels started noticing him, and the rest was history.

Other Celebs Who Opened about Their Mental Health Battles

Shawn is far from the only person in the industry to be suffering from a mental health problem. Like the singer, “Empire” actress Taraji P. Henson admitted in April that she has depression and anxiety and that she regularly talks to a therapist.

The award-winning actress added that although therapists and shrinks would tell you things that may hurt you, they will help you change for the better because, she explained, sometimes your friends and families are too afraid to hurt you.

Lili Reinhart said she reminds herself of accomplishments to battle her depression

“Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart also shared in 2017 her battle against depression and remained opened about it, usually sharing on social media how she soars through it. She revealed that whenever she feels depressed, she looks back and remind herself of how far she had come.
